Are plastics safe for kids to eat from every day?

If you are a Mum of school age or kindy age kids then you probably are putting your child’s lunch into some form of plastic container or glad wrap bag every day for school. I always buy the BPA-free containers, but I found a recent scientific study which states that BPA-free plastics still release chemicals which could have negative effects on young children. You can find the report here:

The dislodging of potentially harmful chemicals from the plastic matrix is said to happen during the manufacturing process of the product, due to the high temperatures used. The products also incur leaching of chemicals when placed in the microwave, dishwasher or in common solvents. I would recommend washing any kind of plastic container in lukewarm water with a small squeeze of lemon juice to cut the grease.
