Monday Spirulina Mango

The thought of a cold Monday without a power packed smoothie is out of the question. Some of us were feeling less than sharp this morning when we woke up an hour late! How to fix a fuzzy head?

Spirulina is a great reliever of that modern day epidemic, brain fatigue. Brain function is improved when you add foods which contain a good amount of chlorophyll to your diet, so adding nutrient dense algae to your smoothie is a quick way of boosting your energy at a cellular level. 

In this smoothie I also added mango. This low glycemic index fruit contains glutamine acid, a chemical proven to promote concentration and memory. 

Mango is also an alkaliser and we need those in our diet to keep our body at the optimum pH. Mango also clears the pores of the skin and promotes healthy digestion due to its high fibre content. 

Just one cup of this amazing fruit contains 76% vitamin C, 25% of your daily vitamin A and 11% B6. It’s also high in iron. 

My little boy with ARFID drank this with no argument. Phew!!

Serves 4

  • 4 cups almond milk (just soaked almonds and water strained- nothing added)
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 scoops Amazonia Raw Protein Powder
  • 2 tsp spirulina
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 mango (fresh or 1 cup frozen)
