My poor little boy had his tonsils out yesterday and as you can imagine, he’s been extremely sore and miserable.
He has asked for this porridge twice today and it’s kept him going. I made sure I made enough milk to use for breakfast tomorrow morning. Forward planning is the name of the game when you are appointed head of pain management!
- 1 cup macadamias (soaked 4 hours)
- 3 cups water
Blend this well and store it in a sterile bottle or jar in the fridge. I don’t add sweetener to the milk if I’m using it for porridge for the kids because they like a little maple syrup on the top.
I used half a cup of rinsed steel cut oats to 1 1/2 cups of the nut milk.
Bring this to a light simmer and then turn it down to a low heat, stirring for around 20 minutes.
Add maple syrup.. (liberally in this case).
